The safest journey is the one that begins with awareness and responsibility.
Building safer communities involves more than improving infrastructure—it also requires encouraging responsible behaviour that protects lives. Road safety awareness is a shared responsibility, where public institutions, community organisations and citizens work together to reduce preventable accidents and create a culture of safe driving.
With this objective, Meghmani Foundation, in collaboration with the Mahisagar District Police and other supporting organisations, launched a road safety awareness initiative in Lunawada. As part of the campaign, a Free Helmet Distribution Programme was organised at Shri P. N. Pandya College on February 24, 2026, under the guidance of the District Road Safety Committee. The programme encouraged two-wheeler riders to adopt safe riding practices and highlighted the importance of wearing helmets as a simple yet effective measure to save lives.
The first phase of the initiative saw the distribution of more than 100 ISI-marked helmets, with Meghmani Foundation contributing towards the distribution of 250 helmets as part of a larger campaign to provide approximately 1,000 helmets across the district with support from other donors. The campaign was designed to promote road safety awareness, particularly among rural and tribal communities, while encouraging citizens to adopt safer road habits. Participants also pledged to follow traffic rules, and a road safety awareness rally was organised to reinforce the campaign’s message.
The programme was attended by Shri Safin Hasan, Superintendent of Police, along with representatives of the Foundation, local educational institutions, the Regional Transport Office and the Police Department, reflecting a collective commitment towards improving road safety through community participation.
By supporting initiatives that combine public awareness with practical action, Meghmani Foundation continues to contribute to safer communities where responsible behaviour helps protect lives and strengthen families.
